1st prize winner - West Java Art & Cultural Center National Competition

The absence of cultural center in the heart of Bandung City has lead to a status quo for art development in West Java, province. Knowing it had lots of traditional art and performance, the fact that only small art space and cultural center is on the outskirts of the city had made the public can’t access art easily. 

This competition was held by West Java government in 2015 to give the people of Bandung an easy access for art and culture. Located in the heart of the city, a grand theater and three smaller theater are the main program to sit on a 1.2 ha of land. Our idea was accepted by approaching a basic shape (cone) which was an interpretation of a cultural symbol, the tumpeng.
